General information

ITMO University invites you to take part in the Second Edition of Summer School on Nanophotonics and Metamaterials for PhD, Master students and engineers. The internationally recognized scientists will give a series of talks in the field of their expertise. The school is organized by the Nanophotonics and Metamaterials Laboratory of the ITMO University.

School will take place in the Technopark of the ITMO University in marvelous Eliseev House (Birzhevaja Linija, 14) in the center of St. Petersburg city.

The school participants will be provided the access to the ITMO University WiFi network. By using this service all users accept all terms and conditions pulished on a page.

Self study

Please download the file with the description of the problem using the links below and start solving them in a groups according to the following table. You will be provided a self-study time on Thursday 14:30-18:00. During the self-study time you will be able to use a class room with computers with required software. The results should be presented by each group on Friday at "Exam" session.

Registration

In order to register for the School Particpants should send CV and short covering letter using following form:

Number of school seats is limited. School participants will be selected on a competitive basis. Decision about participation in the School is made on the basis of applicant’s CV and motivation letter. Travel grants will be offered for the selected students after consideration of requests. All registered participants are encouraged to attend Poster Session competion. The best poster will be awarded.

Registration fee

Student 23 000 RUB (≈370 EUR)
Regular 29 000 RUB (≈470 EUR)

The fees include tuition, lecture materials, full board accommodation and social events.
Students affilated with CIS-countries universities will be partly supported by Russian Science Foundation. The cost for this participants may be reduced to 5.000 RUR. Please contact School Organizeres for details.

Travel grants

Travel grants will be offered for selected students after consideration of requests. Please fill in corresponding field during registration.

Credits

All participants of the School will be offered to solve a number of problems given by lectureres. Students who will successfully solve all tasks and present their results will be awarded 3 ECTS credits.

Venue

The School will be held in the historical palace Eliseev House (Birzhevaja Linija, 14) situated in the center of St. Petersburg in the walking distance to the Winter Palace and Hermitage museum. Visit 3D-tour over School venue.

Visa

Please fill in visa invitation form in order to get official invitation for visa application.

A foreigner traveling to Russia should have a valid passport (expiry date should be no earlier than 6 months after the date of visitor's departure from Russia) and an appropriate visa (for almost all foreign visitors).

Please request visa invitation letter as ssoon as possible since visa application can require up to 1.5 months.

The visa application rules are different for different types of visas and also depend on country of residence of the applicant:

II. VISA (you need VISA INVITATION DOCUMENT)

II.I EU-citizens (except for citizens of Denmark, the UK and Ireland)

To get a visa, a visitor has to submit to a Russian Embassy or Consulate an official letter of invitation issued by ITMO University- VISA INVITATION DOCUMENT.

Each participant (and accompanying person) will timely get such a Letter if he (she) ticks this option and fills in the data for the visa support letter and uploads a copy of the pages of a passport with photo in the personal account.

Please, apply for a visa as soon as possible after receiving the invitation to ensure that the visa is issued timely. Please note that the process of issuing the official letter of invitation by ITMO University takes about 5 working days.

II.II NON-EU CITIZENS (and citizens of Denmark, the UK and Ireland)

To get a visa, a visitor has to submit to a Russian Embassy or Consulate “an official letter of invitation from the hosting organization registered with either the Russian Ministry of the Interior with its local offices or the Russian Foreign Ministry with its regional representatives”, i.e. issued by the Federal Migration Service- VISA INVITATION DOCUMENT.

Each participant (and accompanying person) will timely get such a Letter if he (she) ticks this option and fills in the data for the visa support letter and uploads a copy of the pages of a passport with photo in the personal account.

Please, apply for a visa as soon as possible after receiving the invitation to ensure that the visa is issued timely. Please note that the process of issuing the official letter of invitation by Federal Migration Service takes about 6 weeks.

Please use following form to receive letter of invitation from conference organizers.

For getting VISA INVITATION DOCUMENT please complete the following steps:

• Prepare a scanned copy of two adjacent pages of your passport which contain your photo, passport number and expiration date. Recommended resolution is 150–300 dpi; file formats: jpg, jpeg, gif, png, tif, tiff, pdf. Please note that size of the uploaded file must not exceed 16Mb.

Extra documents:

  • Copy of Marriage Certificate (in a case of spouse being accompanying person)
  • Copy of Residence (in a case of living outside the Country of Nationality)

• Attach the scanned copy when registering through the form.

• Repeat the above steps for all accompanying persons (please DO NOT omit affiliation, position, address and fax of the institution FOR EMPLOYED, STUDENTS and PUPILS).

• Wait for the response from Organizing Committee

The same information is required for each of accompanying person.

Please, also check that yours and your accompanying persons' medical insurance is valid in Russia.
